Research Institution - Branding

A brand is a particular make of a product, for example each music artist would have their own individual brand to separate them from other artists. Their branding should continue throughout other parts of their product eg: album covers, posters, videos etc.

A good example of this is the band 'Kasabian' and their new album 'Velociraptor.' The style of the album transcends the music video and colour pallet used for promotion.

Branding is extremely important to the music industry in order to gain a sense of guarantee for the audience, so they know what genre of music they are receiving. If they do not have this, then they create a sense of doubt amongst the audience, which will lose audience members. Brands work because they turn each music artist and song into something unique which allows each product to stand out from the crowd and each other.

Artists continue branding over all their products, as once an audience member has been drawn in, they will recognise the brand and continue to buy the products.
