Research: Appeal to our Audience

In order for our music video to become a success, we have to decide on shots that will please and appeal to the audience. As our audience is mainly aimed at young people and those who are fans of acoustic rock we have to consider what they want in a music video. We also have to consider that, as our artist is female, will there be male gaze present in order to gain a male prominent audience? Or should we use shots in order to gain the trust of our female audience?

What will appeal to our audience?

  • Close ups and extreme close ups, thus creating a relationship with our audience.
  • Instruments (mise en scene) - this will represent our artist as a musician and a singer/song writer, pleasing aspirers.
  • Typical mise en scene and iconography from an acoustic rock artist; as our audience will be fans of acoustic rock, we want to represent our artist correctly in order to show that they are watching an acoustic rock video.
More will be added to this list, or a new post will be created, when we begin shooting and story boarding our music video, then we will know what to put in and include in our footage.
